Mediq is an international provider of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and the associated care. Mediq takes care of the delivery from supplier to patient, via 3 distribution channels: directly to people’s homes, if needed with the associated care; via healthcare professionals such as hospitals; and via Mediq Apotheken (pharmacies). Mediq has 8,300 employees in 15 countries. Mediq was incorporated in 1899.

Mediq Danmark provides medical supplies, related to, inter alia, incontinence, ostomy, diabetes and wound care, to patients in homecare situations. In addition, the company supplies institutions such as nursing homes and hospitals with a broad assortment of medical products. The company offers one-stop shopping for both end-users and institutional customers on a nationwide basis, supplying products in exclusive distribution agreements and own brands. Mediq Danmark is located in Brøndby near Copenhagen and is the market leader in Denmark. The company employs 120 persons and serves 113,000 people in homecare situations.

Mediq acquired Mediq Danmark (formerly Kirudan) in June 2007.The acquisition of Mediq Danmark clearly fits the strategic goals of Mediq. The company acquired another Danish organisation called Hermedico in 2008. Mediq is positive about the growth potential of direct deliveries in home care situations, a market approach which Mediq has followed successfully for a number of years. Mediq also has extensive experience in providing medical supplies to institutions, not only in the Netherlands but also in Norway and Switzerland.
