Established in 1967 by Derek and June Brown, Appleton Woods Ltd initially manufactured stainless steel canisters for sterilising laboratory glassware.

Derek Brown had worked in the Metallurgy Department at the University of Birmingham and had seen an opportunity to supply metalware to his colleagues in the Microbiology Department. Under the founders’ son, Chris Brown, the portfolio of products has now grown to encompass the latest in laboratory disposable plastic innovations, a wide range of laboratory equipment and an expanding range of molecular biology and cell culture reagents.

Today Appleton Woods services long-standing and new customers in the pharma-biotech, academic research and clinical sectors with a huge variety of high-quality products using our own delivery network operating out of our HQ in Kings Norton, Birmingham

The product portfolio has been developed to encompass a comprehensive range of Equipment, Consumables and Reagents and is supplied to Life Science Laboratories across the UK. The company’s focus is on teaching in Higher Education and research environments in Universities and Research Institutes, Biotech Companies and Clinical Laboratories, where Its customers are working to understand, diagnose and treat human health and disease.
