NHD founder and CEO Dr. Jan Heise was born in Flensburg (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany) and studied biology at the University of Halle (Saxony-Anhalt). Allocated by a DAAD fellowship he continued his research at the University of Berkeley, California. Dr. Heise earned his doctor degree – supported by a DFG scholarship – at the University of Halle and did post-doctoral research at the Leibniz-Institute of Plant Biochemistry and the Institute of Biochemistry, Halle.
